Miriam's Weather Report Part 4.

Miss Eleanor Dashwood

My sincerest apology for the entire lack of posts, I was in PA visiting family. Well we were there we got a new cat, her name is Eleanor Dashwood, but for short we just call her Ellie. Ellie is playful and cuddly.

Caterpillar to butterfly part 1.

Hello. Today my little sister got 10 photos of caterpillars with each caterpillar  being only in one image. All ten of the caterpillars were black swallowtails. Two of them looked like they would turn into chrysalis form any minute.

Then there where a lot of other sized ones. these two were also very well camouflaged.
And here are the rest of  them:

I cant wait for them all to be lovely butterflies.

Box Turtle Tales Part 4

Not much has changed since I last posted. My greatest hope is that the hot weather helps the eggs hatch sooner rather than later. I hope that the eggs weren't damaged in the storm.

Box Turtle Tales Part 3

It's day 3 and we made a sign for the nest today. It's not the best, but serves the purpose adequately.
Sadly the spelling is only 86% intelligible. I made a video of the laying of the sign. (video 4) I'm not yet sure what we will do tomorrow, but I will probably find a way to put an extra fence like thing around it.

Grasshopper Go Part 1

I was playing outside today, when I saw a grasshopper that was a little slow this morning. So I lost no time in scooping it up.
He was an average grass hopper, though perhaps on the large side. I named him Tom and then let him go. Next I captured one that I think was a girl. She was also on the larger scale. I named her Jackie.

Here is another photo of Jackie sitting on a log after I put her down.

And those are two of the grasshoppers that I found today.

Box Turtle Tales Part1

Earlier today we found a box turtle making a nest. She, for a box turtle, was normal. Here are some photos of the mother turtle, whom we have named Ping Pong, digging.

And after watching her dig for a while, I was so lucky as to catch the first egg dropping in on film! (video 1) It was an epic moment. I also got a good photo of the egg laying.
The eggs were some what larger than I expected, they really do look like ping pong balls. The photo is of egg number four. I soon lost count of how many eggs there were. Then I went to the park, and when I got back I saw that Ping Pong was leaving, so I took this video clip. (video 2) Sorry about the cut off at the end. After dinner I rushed out to see the nest. It wasn't that interesting to look at.
But it is a little more interesting when you really look close. You can even see the scratch marks from Ping Pong's claws. Here is a little clip that I made while looking at the nest. (video 3) That is all for today. I'll post the videos tomorrow.
